ELVAN TEKCAN

Born in 1968 in Trabzon, Turkey. She received her BA degree from Department of Economics at Bosphorus University, Istanbul in 1991 and pursued her career formation in “strategic marketing management” through the double-major studies she led in Management Department.

She worked at an executive level as a marketing professional in various international companies at different sectors between the years 1991 to 1997. She received her MA degree from Fine Arts Faculty at Marmara University with her thesis “Arts Management and Business of Art” in 1997. She gave lectures on “Cultural Policy and Arts Management” in various universities at BA and MA programmes. She also prepared special education programmes in the same area.

She worked as an executive manager in advertising companies between 2000-2005. She has worked as the editor of a periodical on culture and art called AKADEMIST during the same time period. In 2004, she had an active responsibility in the foundation phase of IMOGA (Istanbul Museum of Graphic Arts) where she is still a permanent member of the board and has realized many national and international projects. She continued as an academic instructor in Işık University, Fine Arts Department till 2011. She worked on printmaking at The Çamlıca House of Art in Çamlıca in 1993, 1994, 1998 and 1999, and at IMOGA in 2009, 2013, 2014 and 2020. She has been working at Milli Reasürans Art Gallery in Istanbul as a manager since 2015.
